Rotary International Convention - Melbourne May 27th - 30th, 2023
Melbourne Convention Centre
Breakout session Tuesday 30th May at 1.30pm
E-Club of Change Maker's member and moderator Susan Benedyka led the Doing Rotary Differently session. With Susan was Change Maker Clark Fletcher who gave a summary of the reports received from 28 E-Clubs and Passport Clubs from around the world. The two guest speakers were RI Director Drew Kessler from New York, USA and PDG Andy Rajapakse from Queensland Australia.

This project was the initiative of our club member and PDG Phil Clancy. It was Phil’s idea for our club to interview E Clubs and Passport clubs from all around the world to see how they do Rotary differently.
We are talking about Rotary clubs that use the internet to conduct most of their meetings.
Today, over 5 billion people use the internet on a daily basis.
The internet, clearly, is still around. And here to stay.
What our project has found is that if you have not embraced the internet or zoom meetings, then your club is missing out on many opportunities from around the world.
Clubs that have embraced this method of conducting their club affairs are experiencing greater opportunities in all facets of Rotary.
There were five questions asked of each club:
1. What does your club do differently?
2. What are the benefits?
3. How do you recruit new members?
4. How do you fund raise?
5. How do undertake projects?
5. How do undertake projects?
The responses were many and varied, although certain themes emerged from all of the clubs.
